International Robotics Honor Society Local Chapter Student Officers

IRHS logo

Students with exceptional academic standing have the opportunity to apply for membership in a local chapter of the International Robotics Honor Society to earn accredited graduation honors for their participation in a host of high school robotics competitions. Each year, local chapters hold elections to select student officers to serve in a variety of leadership roles.

Selection of Officers

Local chapters are responsible for developing their own methods for accepting nominations and holding the election of Student Officers. Each officer must meet all minimum requirements for membership in the chapter, and be approved by their chapter’s Faculty Council.

Officers should show an additional level of commitment to their local chapter, and exemplify the IRHS ethos of academic excellence, character, and community service. All officers must be approved by their local chapter’s Faculty Council.

Student Officer Roles

Depending on where you live, your local chapter’s board of Student Officers may vary in roles and responsibilities. The positions of President, Vice President, and Secretary are required for each chapter, and will need to be filled by three separate Student Officers. The roles of Treasurer and Historian may or may not be applicable to a local chapter, and may be filled by either a dual-role student or individual students.

To assist local chapters in developing their bylaws and establishing a slate of officer role responsibilities, the IRHS has developed a sample set of core duties and task delegations.
