Applying for a Chapter of the International Robotics Honor Society

IRHS logo

The International Robotics Honor Society (IRHS) was established in 2018 to recognize high school students for excellence, not only for their efforts on competitive robotics teams, but for academics, personal character, and community service.

Students with exceptional academic standing have the opportunity to apply for membership in a local chapter of the International Robotics Honor Society to earn accredited graduation honors for their participation in a host of high school robotics competitions.

Chapter Eligibility

The IRHS is an International organization, with representation from around the world. While the required documentation varies from region to region, any secondary public school is eligible to apply for a charter for a local chapter.

Nonpublic secondary schools that are accredited or approved by state departments of education or by accrediting agencies approved by NASSP are eligible to apply for a local chapter. International schools are eligible to apply and will be asked to provide accrediting documentation.

Role of the Chapter Advisor

Each chapter of the International Robotics Honor Society will elect a Chapter Advisor that will be the primary point of contact between the IRHS and the local chapter. The Chapter Advisor cannot be a student, must be at least 18 years old, and must be approved by an administrator from their school (such as a principal, dean, superintendent, etc.). The Chapter Advisor is responsible for maintaining the local chapter’s information and required submissions each year, along with managing the day-to-day operations and activities of their chapter.

Application Process for New and Returning Chapters

  • Each school must apply for its own chapter and may not establish more than one chapter.
  • Applications must be completed by the Chapter Advisor.
  • New and returning chapters can apply at https://recf.org/irhs/.
