Methods of Recording Alliance/Teamwork Matches - Aerial Drone Competition

Scorekeeper referees use a paper or digital scoresheet to record and submit scores from matches during a competition. The type of scoresheet used at a specific event is determined by the event partner.

How to Record the Score

• For paper scoresheets, it is critical that the correct match number and team numbers are entered on the scoresheet. 
• Digital scoresheets are pre-populated with the match and team numbers, so referees should verify that the information is correct with the team before the match starts.

Recording the Scoring Information

After the match ends and any necessary information has been communicated by the head referee, the scorekeeping referees should count and record the following information:

1. Number of balls in goal 1 (see criteria in rule 5.1.1).
2. Number of balls in goal 2 (see criteria in rule 5.1.1).
3. Number of balls in goal 3 (see criteria in rule 5.1.1).
4. Number of balls in goal 4 (see criteria in rule 5.1.1).
5. Number of balls in scoring zone (see criteria in rule 5.1.3).
6. Number of bean bags cleared (see criteria in rule 5.1.4).
7. Number of flight paths completed (see criteria in rule 5.1.5).
8. Is there a drone on the small cube (see criteria in rule 5.1.6).
9. Is there a drone on the large cube (see criteria in rule 5.1.6).

Verify the Counts

• After recording the counts, show the scoresheet to all teams so they can check that each count is correct; even one missed object or action can affect a team’s ranking.
• Teams are only verifying the individual counts, not the score. If using paper scoresheets, scorekeeper referees are not expected to calculate the match score.

No Shows and Red Cards

• Before submitting the scoresheet, scorekeeper referees should work with the head referee to determine whether the “No Show” or “Red Card” checkboxes should be marked for any teams in the match.
• Check the "No Show" box if no member of a team is present in either the pilot station or visual observer station at the start of the match.
• If the head referee issues a red card foul to a team at the end of the match, mark the "Red Card" box next to their team's number on the scoresheet and enter the corresponding rule number in the "Red Card Reason" space. A team cannot receive a red card unless it has broken a specific rule.

How to Submit the Score

• For paper scoresheets, submit a completed paper scoresheet and hand it to the software operator for entry into Competition Control.
• For digital scoresheets, select the save icon to save the match.
