Overview
Competition Control (C2) is the event management software from the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (RECF) for robotics and drone competitions. It allows event staff to manage competitions from setup through awards, including team check-in, inspection, match scheduling, queuing, scoring, alliance selection, eliminations, and awards. It also supports audience and field displays.
Competition Control runs on a host computer at the event venue. Volunteers connect tablets, laptops, and TVs over the local network to access the tools and displays they need. These client devices use a web browser and do not require a separate software installation. The host computer needs internet access to sign in with an RECF account and install updates. Once an event is open, Competition Control can run without an internet connection provided the host computer and client devices can communicate over the local network.
User Guide
The Competition Control User Guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up, managing, and running a robotics or drone competition. The guide is organized by task, with sections covering event setup, competition operations, judging, displays, reports, and reference information including network requirements and troubleshooting.
How to Use the Guide
Use the navigation menu on the left to browse topics and find instructions for the task you're working on.
- Getting Started: Learn what you need and follow the recommended workflow for preparing for your first event.
- Event Setup: Configure the event, fields, teams, awards, schedule, and matches.

If you're new to Competition Control, start with the Getting Started section. It explains what you need and provides a recommended sequence for preparing for your first event. You don't need to read the entire guide from beginning to end. Use the section that matches the task you're completing, and refer to the relevant instructions as needed. If you need additional help, visit the Support page.
Download Competition Control
Download Competition Control to install the software on the host computer that will run your event. Competition Control is free to download and available to everyone. An RECF Entra account is required to download the software. If you don't already have an account, you can create one from the sign-in window on the download page. Other devices connect to the host computer through a web browser on the local network and do not need a separate installation.
For Event Partners
Install Competition Control on your host computer before event day. This gives you time to complete setup and become familiar with the software before your competition begins.
After installation, follow the Host Computer Setup instructions to open your event, then use the Client Devices instructions to connect the devices your volunteers will use.
