The VEX V5 Robotics Competition (V5RC) Head Referee certification course is designed to teach volunteer V5RC referees the nuances of the V5RC game rules and how V5RC tournaments are run. Qualified and certified Head Referees help provide a consistent experience for participants within and across local, regional, national, and World Championship events. 7 hours of PD credit.
The V5RC Head Referee Certification Course takes an average of 7 hours to complete, and represents 7 hours of professional development and training when completed. VEX Robotics Competition Head Referees are expected to recertify each season.
The V5RC Scorekeeper Referee Training Course takes an average of 4.5 hours to complete. VEX Robotics Competition Scorekeeper Referees are not required to complete certification, but are highly encouraged to certify each season.
The 2025-2026 V5RC Referee training courses are available at training.recf.org. For access to courses, you may need to create a new account in that system. Once you're successfully logged in, choose the VEX V5 program from the list on the home page, and select the VEX V5 Robotics Competition Head Referee or Scorekeeper Referee Certification to begin.
