Game Description
The 2026-27 RECF Engage Robotics Competition game, Tier Takeover, is played on a 6’ x 8’ rectangular field configured as seen below. In Tier Takeover alliance matches, teams have 60 seconds to score as many points as possible. Each alliance match includes two teams, who work together to earn a shared score for the match.
Teams also compete in solo matches, where one robot takes the field to score as many points as possible. These matches consist of solo driving matches, where student drive teams have 60 seconds to score as many points
as possible while operating their robot with a remote controller, and solo coding matches, in which the robot operates using pre-written code created by the student team members.
Details
In Tier Takeover, robots navigate a 6’x8’ field to collect bean bags and place them in and on matching goals to score points. Robots can push, lift, rotate, stack, toss, or plow bean bags, but must follow the rules of each specific match type.
