Event Partners and volunteers are the backbone of every REC Foundation event, and the REC Foundation is committed to providing resources to assist with event preparation. Our volunteer certification courses include interactive and engaging learning resources to ensure that you are prepared. After earning your certification, you can be confident in your ability to perform your role as an Event Partner or volunteer!
All training is self-paced, and can be completed on your schedule. Volunteer certification courses for the 2023-24 season are housed in the REC Library.
Event Partner Certification Course
The Event Partner Certification Course prepares new Event Partners to host REC Foundation VEX IQ Robotics Competition (VIQRC), VEX Robotics Competition (VRC), and/or VEX U events. Existing Event Partners who would like a refresher or additional event planning resources for hosting VIQRC, VRC, or VEX U events are also encouraged to complete the certification. 8.5 hours of PD credit.
VIQRC Head Referee Certification Course
The VIQRC Head Referee certification course is designed to teach volunteer VEX IQ Robotics Competition (VIQRC) referees the nuances of the VIQRC game rules and how VIQRC tournaments are run. Qualified and certified Head Referees help provide a consistent experience for participants within and across local, regional, national, and World Championship events. 4 hours of PD credit.
VRC Head Referee Certification Course
The VRC Head Referee certification course is designed to teach volunteer VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) referees the nuances of the VRC game rules and how VRC tournaments are run. Qualified and certified Head Referees help provide a consistent experience for participants within and across local, regional, national, and World Championship events. 5.5 hours of PD credit.
VEX U Head Referee Certification Course
The VEX U Head Referee certification course is designed to teach volunteer VEX U referees the ways the VEX U rules vary from the standard rule set. VEX U Head Referees are required to pass this course in addition to the VRC Head Referee certification course. 2.5 hours of PD credit.
Judge Advisor Certification Course
The Judge Advisor certification course is designed to teach volunteer Judge Advisors and Judges the procedures and resources needed to judge team interviews and engineering notebooks at a competition, and to determine winners of Judged awards. Judge Advisors and Judges help provide a consistent experience for participants within and across local, regional, national, and World Championship events. 4 hours of PD credit.
Coach Certification Course
The Coach Certification course (VIQRC Library / VRC Library) prepares new coaches and mentors to form and guide student teams for the VEX IQ Robotics Competition (VIQRC) and VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) competitions. 8 hours of PD credit.
